Wood Planks Garage Door Refinishing
REFINISHING A WOOD GARAGE DOOR
This pine planks garage door has known many hands.
The door is facing west and gets a lot of sun beams in the afternoon till sunset.
It looks to me as if the original stain was done, trying to create rustic look / blotchy staining.
The bottom of the door is more problematic be cause it is more exposed to sun and rain.
As the pictures are showing before and after my treatment.
I used a mixture of plain Tung oil and stains.
I would not use polyurethane because it will dry hard and will flake off after some time.
Nice job. i want to know more info to how manage and safe doors form sun and heats. http://www.maingaragedoors.com . Thanks for providing some info.

Amazing how you can make old look new again!
Gorgeous garage door Dov:) Looks like a lot of hard work:)
The after looks great. The bottom of wood always seems to warp when it touches the ground and gets wet. Can anything be done to prevent it?
Always liked this look.
Nicely done with the refinishing Dov. Is Tung oil similar to Australian Oil?
These look so much more beautiful than those metal ones! Great job!
WOW, looking so nice.
I love it for my home doors.
I can appreciate the amount of work and skill that goes into making these doors look beautiful. It's not nearly as easy as it looks!
I love how adding a new coat of oil and stain make the garage door look brand new again. We have a few of these types of garage doors in our neighborhood and most of them are starting to look very worn. I prefer a metal garage door because it requires less maintenance.
Stunning workmanship – the doors are beautiful!
I just love the rich look of wood… So I shared on FB! Hence my previous post… Excellent work!
I've seen beautiful garage doors like this on expensive homes, here. Dov Shapira gives the tip on how to refinish it for heavy wear!
I love this garage door! Great job restaining it and bringing it back to life
Really nice look!
This is beautiful. It is so important to know what to use (and what not to use) when doors are lambasted by our desert heat.
Yes wooden garage door can be damaged due to sun heat. After treatment of a garage door, it will be fine. I think and my experience says as a contractor of Garage Doors Seattle that try to avoid direct sun heat to protect your garage door.
Great job! That's gotta be hard making sure it hold up in the weather, that's why we need experts 🙂
This looks cool… we're actually in the hunt for a new garage door. However, I don't know if the home owner's association would allow this to "fly" as they have their preset requirements. Thanks.
Beautiful doors! Nothing like wood!
Wow, what beautiful work! Those doors are gorgeous! How would they hold up to the elements in Minnesota?
Awesome. You seem to be posting on everything that I am getting ready for remodeling. Are you watching me?
I think its good move by you and it will be great inventory effort…so thanks for sharing it. http://accurategaragedoorhouston.com/garage-door-services
Great work making this look so much better!
