Installation of Anderson Doors for J.C. Barrett Contracting

My long time friend John Barrett of  J.C. Barrett Contracting Hires me from time to time to install doors.

This time on January 2014, Mr. Barrett hired me to install Anderson Doors.
The doors were installed as a replacement of windows.

These Anderson doors are constructed with clear hard pine and aluminum clad on the exterior side.
The dark color of the aluminum is not paint but anodized aluminum.
Anodizing  is an electrolytic  passivization process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface.
Anodizing increases corrosion resistance and wear resistance.

To anchor the doors frame to the block wall, Anderson Doors provide extra long screws that go through the hinges holes into the wall, this way there is no need to drill the frame and the use of putty to cover the screws.

I shot Polyurethane foam all around the doors frame and under the threshold.
The foam drys hard and provides an excellent insulation.

  22. That is a nice option and gives them more light as well as access.

  23. Dov, I came from the midwest and know that Anderson makes great products. I was always concerned about using them in AZ because of the heat. What's been your experience long term with their products here?

  24. Love that you replaced the windows with doors. It's also great that they are such wonderful quality and that you use the polyurethane foam which keeps everything perfectly insulated. They look great as well !

  25. Replacing doors and windows so they are tightly sealed is great for saving money. That's always a great investment. In the winter, keeps the cold out and the warm in. In warmer months, keeps it cooler inside.

  26. I love how you describe the types of materials and explain what you do. Thanks Dov.
