Sectional wood deck

Deck007

Removable wood deck

My client purchased a condo in NYC
Walking outside his back door, there was a roof for his use as part of the deal.

He asked me to build a wood deck for him.
The existing roof deck was made of plywood and black asphalt roofing material.

The original roofing needs to be served every now and then.
I had to come up with a unique idea.
The plan was to built it in sections that can be lifted and removed.

pile up half the deck to one side, serve the roof and then do the other side.

With no elevator we had to hoist the lumber up by hands.
We didn’t use nails or nailing guns, deck screws only.

In the picture is my friend John Pete, yes it was a two men job.

Thank you for reading.

  5. A removable deck… now that is a cool concept. And functional too… It is kind of like "painting a room" while renting, so long as you return it to its former appearance, most people don't care.
