Remodeling a shower room

Shower room

Refurbishing a bathroom.

I bought a tree bedrooms, two bathroom house ten years ago when I got divorced.

The shower area was in bad shape.

The shower three wall were plastic laminated thin sheets that were glued to the drywall.

The joints everywhere had mildew, the bottom pan was plastic as well.

After living there for some time, I couldn’t stand it anymore.

I was fighting the mildew with chlorine.

I decided to tear it apart and redo the plumbing, tile the wall and a new pan.

I went to Home Depot and purchased the tiles and the plumbing parts.

Before the tiling started I was thinking about a soap dish.

I really don’t like those. I decided, instead of regular soap dish I will do something a bit different.

I got two 12×12 travertine tiles and glued them together, Now I have a one inch thick tile.

I cut the tile into  L  shape. I made a grove in the wall and pushed into it the L shaped travertine. Now I have a nice shelf for her needs too.

From the tile leftover, I cut another piece to fit on top as a self.

The ceramic tile and the travertine are working together pretty nicely.

  1. Good stuff. That really came out nice!

  2. So much better than a soap dish!!

  3. I like the idea of using the tile to make a shelf. Very creative as usual.
