Kitchen Remodel

Kitchen remodel
A NYC developer Hired me to do remodeling work at a Manhattan brown stone building.
In the five story building, each story was a single apartment.

Brown stone building designed for one family, first floor, living room, second, kitchen and dining room, than bedrooms, and play room.

Looking at the pictures, the one on the right was the kitchen I built in the first place on site with white Formica cabinets and White ceramic tiles. After the developer determent the colors and material he gave me pretty much free hand to design.

I did the entire work except for plumbing, electrical work and painting.

As soon as a floor was completed it was sold.
This floor was sold to Grace Coddington an English lady who was at that time the head designer of Calvin Kline.

She hated that kitchen, and asked me to redo it with her own design.
And so I did. She added an island and wanted the the counter tops to be made of Douglas Fir.

The funny thing is, I was not able to find Douglas Fir in NY only in NJ, NY gets Hemlock Fir.
When I asked the lumber company why is that, they told me that NJ gets its lumber from the US and NY gets it on ships coming from Canada. Who new.

Kitchen remodeling

New custom kitchen by Shapira Builders in a Manhattan small apartment.
The cabinets were made with poplar wood, the counter tops are Douglas Fir.

I truly enjoyed both projects and it was a pleasure forking for Grace, what a wonderful women.
