Decorative Glass Door, Replacing Old Bi-fold Doors.

Replacing Bi-fold doors with decorative glass door. My client asked me to remove the bi-fold doors from her pantry and install a different door all together. At first she wanted me to get a door that will match the bathroom door that you see in the background of the picture above. The bathroom door has a pre-finish that was made in California. We had no way to find the company or the door that was installed six years ago and I had no way to match the existing door. I showed her the frosted glass French door from one of my doors catalogs and...

Custom entry doorway

A door with two sidelights replacement for entry door way. My client at ‘Moon Valley’ a part of Phoenix city, called me after her house got broken in. They actually broke the door bottom panel and crawled in. Before she called me, she spoke with her insurance and they told her to find someone to fix the broken panel. I told her, to fix the panel will look like  a patch work. I told her she needs to replace the entire entry way, door, sidelight, frame and trim. Just replacing the door will not match the existing 100%. I gave her...

Easy Snap In Door Bottom Sealer / Sweep

Door Bottom Sweeps come in many different shapes   Most of the sweeps are adjustable and get mounted with screws. The Snap In sweep is not adjustable, therefor it calls for adjustable threshold. Door bottoms, also called door sweeps, they are      inexpensive and effective way to increase draft protection  in your home. Sweeps are attached to the bottom of your  door to provide a physical barrier, typically rubber,  against cold and hot air that could seep through the crack  between the door bottom and floor. Adjustable Door Sill / Threshold

Adjustable Threshold Over the years, a wide variety of door sill assemblies have been made with adjustable thresholds. Door sill assemblies initially designed to fit immediately below an entryway door are now often extended to adjacent side lights to provide a continuous sill having a uniform, aesthetic appearance while forming a water tight injunction between the sill and the adjoining building floor surface. Adjustable sills were developed to provide a threshold which an installer can adjust to fit a specific door. By maintaining a...

I said, I’ll be right over. When I arrived at her home, she showed me few pictures of gates that she found on the Internet. They were extremely pricey. I made few sketches in front of my client and she really liked one of...

Refinishing Wood chair by Shapira Builders

Refinishing wood chairs   It takes few steps to refinish woodwork. First step is dusting and cleaning. Second step, light sanding. Next step is wiping the woodwork with mineral spirit.   The fourth step is mixing tung oil and stain. Three parts of stain and one part of tung oil. Freely brush the mixture on the wood using natural bristles brush.   There is nothing to worry about, this mixture has a very slow dry time. Just keep brushing as the wood keeps absorbing until it looks good to you. You may add more stain to get a darker shade. In...

Knotty Alder Doors

Knotty Alder Doors by Shapira Builders.   Home owners, as they buy a new home, often like to replace the main entry door.   When they call me and run it it by me, we schedule an appointment. I present my client with many pictures of different doors catalogs to choose from.   Once my client has chosen a wooden door, we discuss the stain color and the finish, gloss, high gloss or satin. When I order the door and the woodwork that goes around the door, it always comes in raw wood, unfinished.   You are looking at Knotty Alder doors in...
