Custom made Shaker style doors and installation
Custom made Shaker style doors and installation over a cubbyhole in a bathroom.
An Angie’s List member contacted me and asked me to give her a bid.
She has this large cubbyhole in her bathroom as you can see in the image above. Just an open large rectangle of twenty seven inches by 48 inches.
My new client asked me to install two adjustable 16 inch deep shelves and two Shaker style doors.
She said that she will paint the doors white after my work is all done.
I made the doors from three quarter of an inch high quality birch plywood.
I glued one quarter inch by inch and three quarter clear pine along the plywood face.
I also glued thin veneer on the rough plywood edges.
I drilled three holes of 35 millimeters on the back of each door for the hinges.
The hinges are concealed aka, European hinges.
The shelves have a coat of Melamine for easy clean up.
My client was not home during the installation.
She came home from work and saw my work, she rushed to the phone and called me.
She told me how amazed and happy she was to see such work.
She told me that she was worried that she may not like the hinges in the first place.
When she saw the hinges I used, she was so very pleased.

That looks really great. It is sort of a shame to paint those doors. I would put a clear finish on them and let them go. That looks really good.
