6x10x26 feet wood beam grid
Replacing rotted beams with new ones.
My client has a U shape home in Phoenix, with a nice front yard.
A grid of six by ten wood beams added lovely accent to his home.
Two years after he bought this property he decided to check those beams that were covered with aluminum sidings. The previous owner was covering a big problem there.
My client called me and asked me to bid on this job.
I started with removing the siding, some of the beams were so rotted they wanted to come down without my help.
Meaning, someone could have gotten hurt just walking under the beams.
Well, being exposed to rain and the hot sun was bad news to the wood beams.
Exposed wood must be treated properly to stay in good shape.
There are organic preservatives that will resist any microorganism and other creatures.
After the demolition was done. I installed two beams wall to wall sitting inside pockets that were there inside the walls.
My god, those six by ten by 26 feet Douglas fir were so darn heavy. We had to use an hydraulic jack to get it up there. We were three guys working on this project.
I designed a special steel brackets for the cross section wood parts to sit on.
The new beams were treated with organic wood preservative and stain for appearance.

Pretty soon you'll have your own house to build this on!! 🙂
That is very beautiful and to sit under it and watch the Arizona sky would be awesome. Glad the homeowner got it fixed before someone got hurt.
