Replacing and reversing a door swing from outward to inward swing

My client who found me on Angie’s List asked me to remove the old door and install a new door on the existing door jamb.

The reason to keep the old was, this old house had aluminum sidings, removing the door jamb means to disturb the aluminum siding and that would create a situation of very costly repair of the sidings.

Besides, to find the same exact  sidings material with same color would be almost mission impossible.

After I measured the existing opening, I determined that this job can be done.

My client picked out a door from my catalog. It’s an insulated metal skin door with a window on top.

First, I removed the old door and the wood ‘door stop’ from around the jamb.

Then I installed new door stops, routed out the jamb and the door for the new hings.

I hung the door, bored for the new hardware, removed the old threshold and installed a new one made of oak.

Now that my job is done, my client is going to take care of the painting job.

It was nice to find my client review of my work on Angie’s List.

  5. We had a door that we reversed the swing on it to save some space. I have to say that our building wasn't nearly as proficient as you and made a right mess of it!
